KFC debuted a new TV ad Thursday that allows viewers to crack a hidden message if they play the spot back slowly on a digital video recorder or VCR.
This is a much better way to combat ad-skipping technology than spouting, “if you don’t watch the ads, it’s like you’re stealing the programming.” or trying to […]

I just switched the blog over to Wordpress from Blogger. Setting up Wordpress was painless, and its import feature brought in all the Blogger posts without effort. I think this means that I’ve tried Drupal, Blogger, and Wordpress now at least two times each. Wordpress seems pretty good this time around.

A few days ago, I complained about the lack of an updated Software Wars map. I didn’t think I could do it; or, it didn’t even occur to me to do it. I had originally submitted the question as an “Ask Slashdot” question, hoping some able /. reader would decide to make one. The submission […]

I reinstalled Linux on my primary home computer last night. I switched to Ubuntu from Fedora.
Overall, I’m fairly pleased.
With Fedora, I got tired of getting stuck in rpm dependency hell when I wanted to install something outside the norm. In order to get all the multimedia packages and some other software I wanted onto […]

Paul Graham has another excellent essay. This one is one “Web 2.0.” He’s talks about the origin of the term and what it means, and it boils down to three things:
AJAX ( or, “Javascript now works“)
Democray
Don’t Maltreat Users
Then he points out that Web 2.0 is whole point of the Internet.
Web 2.0 means using the web […]
