South Dakota House approves abortion ban

Posted in Politics, Current Events at 10:06 pm by mshiltonj

The South Dakota House has passed a bill that would nearly ban all abortions in the state. The article says that “amendments aimed at carving out exemptions for rape, incest and the health of women were rejected.”

It looks like all the pieces are in place for the big ol’ Roe v. Wade showdown, and South Dakota has thrown down the gauntlet.

A couple weeks ago, W said that abortion opponents are pursuing “a noble cause” and predicted their views would one day prevail.

Looks like “one day” is today in South Dakota.

This issue will, no doubt, be settled in the courts. But since Bush has put uber-conservatives Roberts and Alito on the SCOTUS (Thanks for the friggin asist, Dems!) it looks like RvW’s days are numbered.

You know, from an outside observer’s point-of-view, it seems like the timing on these events is a little too convenient to be coincidence.
